As they say; everything old becomes new again, even with baby names! If you find yourself gravitating towards those old-fashioned trends, you’ll want to check out our list of vintage baby names. We’re confident these traditional names will make a big comeback in 2018.

Clara

Clara is perhaps most famously known as the main character in the popular holiday ballet The Nutcracker. It’s a slightly longer take on the name Clare, which has since made a comeback itself. The name comes from Latin origins and was quite popular in the 1880-1900 Victorian era.

Archibald

With the popularity of Riverdale and its main character Archie Andrews, we predict this old-fashioned baby name will make a huge comeback in 2018. While it peaked in popularity in the 1880s here in the U.S., it has been popular abroad for years.

Mamie

Auntie Mame was the eccentric character of the Broadway show of the same name (“We Need a Little Christmas” anyone?). Mamie Eisenhower was a former First Lady of the U.S. We think this name, which is a shortened version of Mary or Miriam, is going to make a big resurgence in 2018.

Clyde

Clyde is slowly creeping up the charts in popularity. Huffington Post dubbed it a “cool cat” kind of name and chances are if you named your baby Clyde, they just might be the coolest kid in school.

Velma

With the ever-growing popularity of Vivienne, we think another V name has a shot at making it big this upcoming year. The name Velma means “valiant protector” and was invented in the 19th century, most likely deriving from the German pronunciation of the name Wilma (VIL-ma).

Rudolph

The cuteness of the nickname Rudy aside, Rudolph is a vintage baby name that comes from German origins and means baby wolf. It would also be a cute way to honor a holiday baby, because, let’s be real, who doesn’t love “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?”

Felicity

Many millennial moms will remember one of the OG American Girl dolls named Felicity, who hailed from the Revolutionary War era. The name has Latin origins and is a form of Felicia, which means “happy.” Also, is it too early for the Felicity TV series to be considered vintage? For moms who adored the former WB show in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, it’s a fun way to pay homage to it.

Otis

We think this name is going to make a huge jump next year—Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis named their little boy Otis, as did Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer. This is the ultimate in vintage, as one of the best soul singers of all time shared this moniker, Mr Otis Redding.

Amelia

The name Amelia is very traditional. In fact, it’s a blend of the Medieval names Emilia and Amalia. It means “industrious and striving.” Not to mention, the adventurous Amelia Earhart shares the name. Young girls will also love knowing they share a name with the titular character of the Amelia Bedelia book series.

Hank

Hank is a great Southern-inspired vintage baby boy name. It has German origins and means “home ruler” (as most babies are!). Hank grew to peak popularity in the ‘50s and ‘60s and actually jumped back to near peak again in the past few years. We predict this year the name’s popularity will continue to grow.

Alice

Alice is slowly rising in baby name lists and we think 2018 will be peak year for Alices. The name got a huge jump in use when Tina Fey named her daughter Alice. It is of German origin and was originally popular when the novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was released.

Walter

Walter made this list of 15 “Hot Grandpa Names” for boys. It has recently started to slowly increase in popularity after peaking in the 1930s and taking a sharp decline from there. With fun nicknames like Wally and Walt we think this old-fashioned name is poised for a major comeback.

Sadie

It seems there are more and more Sadie babies popping up these days (it was one of the fastest rising names four years ago). The name is actually a short form of Sarah and is the namesake for the vintage Sadie Hawkins dances of yore, where girls asked boys to the party.
